Job Description

Seeking an experienced Oncology/Haematology doctor to provide risk management, to be part of a medical team to assess patients within the day care and outpatient settings. This is a rotational post between day care, outpatients and Oncology & Haematology Ward.

Duties & Responsibilities

• In this role you will be present and contactable within the day care and outpatient settings at all times.
• Examine and review patients when required/requested by the nursing staff or Consultants
• Responsibility for prescribing of medicines to take home (TTOs).
• Initiate routine requests and treatments with the prior consent of the consultants, undertake certain medical procedures as required including bone marrow biopsies
• Provide urgent medical attention and urgent treatment to staff or visitors in case of accident tor sudden illness in liaison with the senior nurse on duty.
• Communicate any medical problems or concerns to Consultants
• Undertake emergency procedures as required, taking the lead as necessary
• Assist in the admission process/transfer of patients to the inpatient ward including clerking the patient
• Maintain clinical notes on all patients attended; notes should be legible, dated, timed and signed.
• Attend departmental meetings
• Take part in ward audits, education, training and research to continuous improve and strive for excellence, for staff and patients.

Skills and Experience

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
• Fully Registered with the GMC
• Successful completion of MRCP or equivalent (Desirable)
• Evidence of achievement of CT/ST1&2 competencies in a medical specialty
• Advanced Life Support Training
• Good working knowledge of IT and computer database
